Existem diferentes fases do serviço devocional.
The Full Cup and Śrī Upadeśāmṛta !!!
The Śrī Upadeśāmṛta of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī has 4 comments (in chronological order):
1 - Upadeśa-prakāśikā-ṭīkā (Commentary on the information of Śrī Upadeśāmṛta) by Śrī Rādhā-ramaṇa Dāsa Gosvāmī.
2 - Pīyūṣa-varṣiṇī-vṛtti (Commentary watering the condensed nectar) of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura.
3 - Anuvṛtti (Comment that follows with respect) of Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura.
4 - The Nectar of the Instruction of Śrīla A.C. Bhaktivedānta Svāmī Prabhupāda.
Śrī Upadeśāmṛta is a wonderful book. And it's worth studying and reviewing its comments carefully.
Śrī Upadeśāmṛta recommends the tolerance of the demands of body and mind. Explain the unfavorable and favorable activities for devotional service. It shows how to relate to the devotees and the importance of chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa and of absorbing into the pastimes of Vraja.
The book goes on to explain that in doing so the practitioner is led to embark on Rāga's path in the mood of Mādhurya-rasa for serving and worshiping Śrī Rādhā Kuṇḍa.
And, exactly at what moment does the practitioner embark on this path of Rāga?
He embarks the path of Rāga when at least half of his desires are spiritual.
Imagine a glass always full at 100% !!!
Such are our desires. We always have 100% desires ... but, these desires may be mixed. They may, for example, be 60% of material desires and 40% of spiritual desires.
But the glass is always full !!!
When the cup is 50% - 50%, Rāgānugā-sādhana-bhakti begins (though it may even be before, in Bhajana-kriyā, for those with the good fortune of having the association of an elevated Rasika Vaiṣṇava).
"When 75% of the dirty things are purified, then our faith in God becomes fixed.
Then Nasta-prāyeṣv abhadreṣu nityam bhagavata-sevayā (SB 1.2.18). Not all clean, but Praya, say, seventy-five percent purified. At this moment you become fixed in devotional service, Naiṣṭhikī.
There are different phases of devotional service. As I explained several times. First of all, śraddhā, sadhu-sanga, bhajana-kriyā, anartha-nivṛttiḥ syat. When anartha-nivṛttiḥ syat, all undesirable things end, at this moment, Nistha, firm faith. Then bhagavaty uttama-śloke bhaktir bhavati naiṣṭhikī.
So, as long as there are dirty things, our faith and devotion in Krsna will not be very fixed, sometimes we deviate, we leave. But then Nasta-prāyeṣu, when seventy-five percent of the dirty things are purified, then our faith in God becomes fixed. Bhagavaty uttama-śloke.
If all undesirable things are overcome, then you will have a firm faith. Bhaktir bhavati naiṣṭhikī. Nityam bhagavata-sevayā, Nasta-prāyeṣu abhadreṣu ... Nasta [SB 1.2.18].
IT IS NOT THAT I will be completely free from all sinful activities, but Prāyeṣu, say, fifty percent, sixty percent of the dirt was gone.
At this time, Nasta-prāyeṣu abhadreṣu ... How did this happen? Nityam bhagavata-sevayā."
(Śrīla Prabhupāda - Lecture SB 1.2.18, 1.2.12 - 08/21/72)
In other words, with 25% or even 50% "dirt" one can begin to practice Rāgānugā-sādhana-bhakti. That is, we still have material desires.
This is one of the most absurd things I sometimes hear. That to practice Rāgānugā-sādhana-bhakti one must be completely pure.
Then we would have to take away the word Sādhana that is between Rāgānugā-sādhana-bhakti.
Now Sādhana ... is Sādhana. It is something that is practiced in the c-o-n-d-i-t-i-o-n-e-d phase.
So it is not right for devotees, who have been practicing Kṛṣṇa consciousness for so many decades in this life and perhaps in other lives, to make false claims that one must be completely pure and free of Anarthas to begin cultivating Rāgānugā-sādhana-bhakti .
Those who often even inadvertently espouse such absurdity block the natural flow of their devotional practices as well as that of many other unsuspecting practitioners.
