No Utkala-khanda do Skanda Purana descreve-se o passatempo de Krsna ao experimentar o êxtase intenso da separação de Vrndavana.
Isto fez com que surgisse Sua forma de Jagannatha com grandes olhos dilatados e membros encolhidos devido ao êxtase (o mesmo com Baladeva e Subhadra).
Esta forma é conhecida como Sua Mahabhava-prakasa. Mahabhava significa “o êxtase mais elevado”, e Prakasa significa “manifestação”, então Jagannatha é literalmente a forma extática de Krsna ao lembrar-se de Vrndavana.
In the Utkala-khanda of the Skanda Purana is described the pastime of Krsna when experiencing the intense ecstasy of the separation of Vrndavana.
This gave rise to His form of Jagannatha with large dilated eyes and limbs shrunk due to ecstasy (the same with Baladeva and Subhadra).
This form is known as His Mahabhava-prakasa. Mahabhava means "the highest ecstasy" and Prakasa means "manifestation", so Jagannatha is literally the ecstatic form of Krsna in remembrance of Vrndavana.
