Smarana 2.0

Smarana 2.0

Smarana 2.0

This makes no sense !!!

Erroneously it is argued that Smarana is possible only in advanced stages.

However, Bhakti Yoga develops gradually. Likewise, the Angas of Bhakti develop gradually too.

That is, in the Anga of Kirtana at the beginning the Sadhaka chants with offenses, then the intermediate stage and finally offenseles chanting.

Similarly, in the Anga of Arcana, at the beginning the Sadhaka worships the Deity in a ritualistic form and then it becomes more intimate.

Also, in the Anga of Smarana, meditation at the beginning in Bhajana Kriya and Anartha Nivritti is Smarana, in Nistha is Dharana, in Ruci is Dhyana, in Asakti is Anusmrti and in Bhava/Prema is Samadhi.

So, development is gradual with all Angas of Bhakti.  At the beginning not being very fixed and gradually enhancing the chanting, worship, remembrance, etc.

It is argued wrongly that only those who are pure can practice Smarana.

This makes no sense.

It is a fact, yes, that initially the meditation of Sadhaka is not completely transcendental. But it's not completely transcendental when the same Sadhaka engages in Kirtana and Arcana.

Is it therefore inappropriate to chant the Holy Names or worship the Deity while still tinged with material desires?

In fact this argument is quite offensive.

With this order of ideas no one could engage in the Angas of Bhakti like chanting, worship an remembrance before becoming a pure devotee.
